JETS JOURNAL - #062
December 31, 2024
Hi All!
Here is your weekly round up of what I’m pondering and exploring. Feel free to forward along to a friend if you think they might enjoy.
I’m in LA
I’m currently sending the newsletter out from Malibu this week. I’m here to help out a family friend who has kindly let me stay at their place, in exchange for looking after their two huskies. I’m really excited to take a moment here to reset and catch my breath before the new year.
I’ve finished the second draft of my novel and will be taking the next couple weeks to slow down and enjoy the rest of the holiday period.
If you want to know how most days are looking for me here, imagine this: morning run with the dogs, bookstores, markets, movie cinemas, hiking, jacuzzis, solitaire, another run with the dogs and repeat.
The New Sincerity
Take a moment to read the passage below:

Go visit an old movie theatre
One of my favourite things to do is to watch a good movie. However, I really don’t like this new wave of remakes and multiverse movies that are shit out by Hollywood studios to cash in on nostalgia. I’ve instead started watching old reruns of movies from the 60s all the way to the early 2000s at select cinemas.
Some of the cinemas in Sydney I goto that always play old movies are The Ritz, Golden Age Cinema and Hayden Orpheum. However, If you are in another city or country, try Google places that screen old films. I find this experience to be much more satisfying, than watching it on your laptop or phone—especially as someone who loves film.
An app can be a home cooked meal
Here is a fascinating perspective I found on X about the shift to being able to build your own apps and products using AI. The new world we are entering will be very different from the one we currently exist within.

Some hope for anyone starting their careers
If you’re young like me and starting out your career, perhaps your unsure about what exactly you want to do, or where to focus your attention, please watch the short clip below, for a hit of hope.
Hope everyone enjoys their week.
Love,
Jet Williams
