Hi All!
Here is your weekly round up of what I’m pondering and exploring. Feel free to forward along to a friend if you think they might enjoy.
The Golden Age
Have you ever been in a change room and seen those old men walking around naked?
Yeah, I want to be like them.
Not because they’re trying to indecently expose themselves, but because they genuinely don’t give a fuck.
These old cunts have become so comfortable in their skin, they’ve given up any shame baring it all.
They lay everything on the table, shrivelled cock and all.
And although half their friends are dead, they still stand there, bronze skin, and gold capped teeth shining in the face of death, saying, come get me.
At this point in their life they’ve seen it all, and reached such a deep, spiritual awareness, they’re not even aware of it.
That’s life for ya, they tell each other as they sit there perched atop the surf club, looking out at the people swimming in the water.
If only they knew what they had, the lucky cunts, one of them says.
On being human
Being human means listening to your heart when intellectually everything else says no.
It’s being flawed, messy, and making mistakes.
It’s getting knocked down, getting back up, and trying again, even when the odds are against you.
It’s having an unwavering amount of hope until the final moment, because you’re crazy, just like the rest of us.
You’re a human and this is living that won’t ever be quantified by the computer.
Chop wood, carry water
I sometimes imagine that one day I can escape my responsibilities.
I dream of freedom, and financial security, so all of my worries can go away, and I can be at peace.
However, the more I live, the more I realise, no matter what I achieve, gain, or experience, reality cannot be escaped.
There’s a Zen Buddhist concept that goes, “before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water; after enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”
Which I think, is the perfect way to describe the unavoidable nature of responsibility.
No matter where you are, or what you’re doing, it will always be there, ever-changing.
This is your very own garden that needs to be tended to.
So take pride in it, enjoy it, and even if all your doing today is pulling out weeds, it’s still a beautiful day out there.
Can you feel the sun on your skin?
Last week the world changed
Last week OpenAI rolled out an upgrade to their image generation tool, and it has literally changed the world overnight, even if you haven’t felt it yet.
Let me explain.

ChatGPT can now generate readable text, and turn almost any idea you have into reality.
For example, if you need a graphic for an ad, or wanted to create a mockup for a product your about to launch, you can now do it in less than a couple minutes.

It might feel like a pretty daunting reality to accept, especially for people like myself who have been trained in graphic design.
However, I’m surprisingly not worried.
I think this will have a net-positive effect across the world, and only help us focus on what really matters—delivering value, authenticity, and meaning to the world.
Because regardless of if you can generate a pretty ad, artwork, or product, it’s the context around the item that makes the difference.
Advice to creatives from Werner Herzog
Here is something genuine from Werner Herzog I think you might find valueable if you want to create great work.
Hope everyone enjoys their week.
