Hi All!
Happy Luna New Year!
Here comes the horse.
Also, here’s is your weekly roundup of what I’m pondering and exploring of course. Feel free to forward along to a friend if you think they might enjoy.
Sunday Afternoon
It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m sitting at my desk in only my undies. I just shaved and I was just about to have a shower but wanted to quickly write out my newsletter. I’m sweaty and probably still smell from riding my bike to and from the city for this mornings calisthenics session.
I felt really strong today and am happy my strength and endurance has returned. I also did a little grocery shop on the way back and bought everything I needed for this weeks meal rotation for lunch at work—red pesto chicken—yum. I’ll be making a batch of that once I get out of the shower.
I’m really happy with how life is going right now, especially with all the exciting things happening in the background that I can’t wait to share with you. Aside from that I’ve felt so much motivation and drive to express myself as of late. I have so many ideas, and things I want to say.
I’ve started posting short daily videos on YouTube again, 30+ of which have already been scheduled for you enjoyment. The mode I’m in right now is pure flow. I’m not second guessing anything, judging, or wishing things were different. I’m just moving with time and seeing how everything unfolds. What a day. What a life. Thank you.
European dreams
Lately I’ve been hearing a whisper and it’s telling me to visit Europe. I have an inkling that although I’ve never been and purposefully avoided going because it’s the place everyone goes after high school on their euro summer tour—I think it’s nearly time for my own European adventure.
Especially because as I’m getting older (25, lol so old) I’m realising that the European way of life might very well be compatible with how I like to live. People eat clean, they cycle everywhere, they have great work life balance, they value intellectual discussions, they have taste, and there’s a huge amount of culture I’ve yet to explore.
This entry by no means guarantees I’ll be there anytime soon, but I thought I’d let you in on some of the places I’m thinking about visiting.
Paris: I really want to visit here especially because of how well my books been performing over there. I’m also very inspired by alot of what’s come from that part of the world. You have one of my favourite movies, La Haine, and one of my favourite books, Tropic of Cancer—and you can’t forget that Henry Cartier Bresson street photography there. I really think the Parisians and people drawn to the city, value art and culture, especially more than here in Australia.
Amsterdam: Most people go here for the drugs but I have zero interest in that and just wanna ride a bike around, write in cafes, look in museums, galleries, read books, make friends with randoms, and just chill. It seems like a laidback place.
Berlin: In all honesty I don’t really know too much about this place other than the fact they love techno, and wear all black, but once again I feel like they appreciate art and culture to a much greater depth then here in Sydney. I don’t have any expectations if I go but I think it would be a very interesting part of the world that values expression.
Like I said, no idea when I would be going to any of these places as I’m working a full-time job right now but it’s in the back of my mind as I look to the future. We’ll see what happens and where I end up next.
A quote I liked
I really like the idea of being a generalist and I think the quote below sums up the mentality perfectly.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. ― Robert A. Heinlein

Saw this comment I liked on an Instagram reel showcasing the difference between Andrei Tarkovsky’s first and last films.
